Nunnery's Celebration of Three Holy Events in Lord Buddha's Life

May 19, 2022

Saga Dawa marks three holy events that Lord Buddha, the sole protector, refuge, and final resort for countless beings, manifested in order to guide disciples—his birth in this world, his enlightenment, and his parinirvana. According to the Kalachakra system of astrology, this year's full moon day of the Saga month was celebrated on May 16. The commemoration and celebration of Lord Buddha's greatness at Palpung Yeshi Rabgye Ling Nunnery began with its khenpos, teachers, and nuns performing a ceremony for the purification and restoration of the three sets of vows in the morning, followed by a ritual of offerings and prayers dedicated to the Sixteen Arhats. In the afternoon, they performed the Mahakala fulfillment and amendment practice, along with a ganachakra feast, after which the nuns offered sacred Dharma discourses, discussions, and debates on our kind Teacher's retinue, lifespan, deeds, and liberating life story.
