Yearly Examination at Palpung University of Buddhist Sciences

Under the guidance and supervision of all the teachers, who have mastered the knowledge of Buddhist sciences in general and especially of the sciences of grammar, poetics, medicine, and astrology, this year's classes at Palpung University of Buddhist Sciences have been successfully completed. At their conclusion, from December 27, 2021 to January 10, 2022 all the university's students took written and oral Tibetan grammar exams based on "Situ's Instructions" and other root texts and commentaries on grammar and spelling. The medical students sat for written, oral, and drawing exams on the root text and commentary of "The Exposition Tantra" (one of the Four Medical Tantras). The astrology students sat for written exams on the general knowledge of astrological systems and their practical application, the calculation of astronomical events related to the sun, moon, planets, and stars, methods of compiling the calendar, as well as oral exams on root texts of astrology and divination. Students of the preliminary classes for the diploma course in Sanskrit sat for written and oral exams on several root texts and commentaries on Tibetan grammar as well as Tibetan Calligraphy. The examination also included tests on difficult points of medicine, astrology, and grammar.
